Siemens is one of the world’s largest electrical and electronics companies, and one of the most well-known, liked and respected corporate citizens in China. This is not surprising given Siemens long history of co-operation dating back to 1872. The company’s China operations are fast emerging as a cornerstone of the Siemens’ global business. All business segments of Siemens are active in China including Automation and Control, Power, Transportation, Medical, Information and Communications, Lighting as well as Household Appliances.

Siemens is an integral part of the Chinese economy and a reliable, committed and trustworthy partner of China actively contributing to major infrastructure developments and industrial modernization. Siemens helps to provide power supply that is affordable, efficient and environmentally compatible, public transport that is fast, save and has high capacity, communication that is reliable, speedy and cost efficient, medical facilities that aid in rapid, accurate and effective diagnosis and treatment as well as automation solutions for every branch of industry to increase productivity, profitability and competitiveness. Some of the most advanced technologies in operations in China today are “Made by Siemens”.

At the end of Fiscal 2006 (30. September 2006) total long-term investment exceeded RMB 15 billion. Sales of fiscal 2006 reached RMB 50.4 billion. To date Siemens established more than 70 operating companies and 60 regional offices in China. These offices form the backbone of Siemens’ regional marketing strategy and ensure that the company is close to its customers to be able to respond quickly and efficiently to their needs. With a workforce of over 43,000 people, Siemens is one of the largest foreign-invested employers in the country.

Until the end of Fiscal 2006, Siemens China has fulfilled its commitment of 10 billion RMB of new investment committed in May 2004. To sustain profitable growth, Siemens in the mid term will inject another 10” RMB of investment into the Chinese market, and boost localization through increasing manufacturing, local R&D, engineering, procurement as well as management training and leadership development. With strategy “Full Speed 2010” announced at the end of 2006, Siemens aims to double its sales until year 2010.
